Getting into the Rat Race

rat-race-wheelIn the recent past, I have interacted with a few young souls who were determined not to enter the rat race at the start of their careers. They had romantic ideas about giving priority to Chai over plain Ai. Today they have sacrificed their romantic ideas for more practical Ai. What is it that makes people dream and then abandon their dreams.

Recently I got a message from my friend saying, “Life is a compromise of what your ego wants to do, what experience tells you to do and what your nerves let you do.”

May be the rat race has some attraction that people want to experience before giving it up, May be it could be a way of accumulating a war chest, before pursuing your dreams. May be a it is like taking up a challenge of entering the “maut ka kuan.” Kuch toh hai!

Well, all these experiences add on to make life interesting. One must experience the thrill of the rat race also! Remember one thing though, it will become more and more difficult to call it quits with the passage of time.

What will you do when you grow up?

What_do_you_want_to_be_when_you_grow_up_xlargeOne of the most common questions we end up asking our kids- What will you do when you grow up? The focus is on Active income (Ai) – How will you work for money?

I wonder why we never ask them “How will you make money work for you?

The consciousness of Passive income (Pi) dawns at a very late stage. Sometimes it never dawns at all.

Shouldn’t we do something in this direction?

Would love to know your views on what should be done and how we can achieve this objective. Remember Robert Kiyosaki “Rich Dad, Poor Dad?”

The Four Wheels of Ai

Presentation1While working for Ai – money, being aware of the fact that the Ai vehicle runs on four wheels is vital. Each wheel of that vehicle holds equal importance. Even a single punctured wheel shall leave your vehicle stranded.

  1. Knowledge-

Are you aware of the various developments that will affect your Ai in future. Learning is a constant process. For many people though it ceases once they acquire their professional degree.

The real successful people are those, who never stop their learning.

  1. Execution-

Am I constantly learning and upgrading my execution skills? Generally we keep following old methods, without questioning the need to dispose them off, which, mind you, shall improve our efficiency.

  1. Marketing/ Networking-

This is very important from the growth perspective. We need to know and keep in touch with the right people.

  1. Wellness-

This area is often ignored in the quest of more work. A recent report of a 22 year old Indian working with Goldman Sachs was very disturbing. The guy used to work for 20 hours a day, 7 days a week until he just dropped dead one day.

Wellness is about Physical, Emotional and Spiritual Balance.

The key to success is balancing these four factors and keeping them aligned and maintained in a proper working condition. Do write in to share your experience at aipichai@gmail.com

Paisa hi Chahiye!

man-chasing-moneyRecently the US enforcement agencies levied a fine of over 5 billion dollars on some of the “best”, “most respectable” banks for settlement of criminal liability for manipulating the interest rates. Names like Citigroup, JP Morgan, Barclays, R.B.S, whom you trust so much, all of them pleaded guilty. They accepted that they are guilty of cheating and other malpractices of manipulating the maket.

Then US officials have also discovered fraud at FIFA top management level that will make our Srini Baba look like a saint.

What is happening? It all goes by your philosophy. You can live your life by following a philosophy of “Paisa BHI chahiye.” (I want money also)

Alternatively, like Mr Raju of Satyam, you can say, “Paisa heechahiye.” (I want money only)

Choice is yours.

What does it mean for you?

Well you have to take care of your finances yourself. You cannot blindly follow the so called “reputed experts.”
